Tuesday 27th August, 2013 (Day 16)
Ever noticed that a lot of people are very protective of their eating plans or quite passionate about them ? And when I say eating plans I mean diet types like paleo, calorie counting, clean eating, low carb/high protein, no sugar, no supplements, no fruit, fruit only, cabbage only, no carb, point systems, eating for body type, fat free, raw food only, eating for blood type, comp prep, IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros)…. and that’s just off the top of my head !!!
Breathe in, breathe out. Follow your heart and find what suits you (I’m having Deja Vu here, sorry if I’m repeating myself). More importantly don’t feel pressured into fitting someone else’s mould just because it “worked for them”. Experiment !! Try something out, if it doesn’t work you can try something else. I do highly recommend NOT going for diets that are obviously short term solutions or not maintainable like the cabbage soup diet. I haven’t tried it but seriously, it cannot be a stepping stone to a wholesome lifestyle. Also when choosing your approach to nutrition be reasonable. If you hate fish, don’t go on a “fish only” plan. If you are time poor, make sure your nutrition fits your schedule etcetera and so on.
Not everyone’s plan is perfect nor is it perfect for everyone. Be smart, be honest and don’t feel pressured into someone else’s nutritional world. You never know, they may actually hate it and just want the company.
